Course Description
This on-demand chest imaging mini-course covers topics in the rapidly advancing specialty of cardiothoracic imaging. Our goal is to provide a review of current concepts based on the needs of the college’s membership. The intended audience is for practicing radiologists, as well as, trainees to gain experience in advanced chest imaging with mainly CT and MRI. The course also covers technical considerations for obtaining optimal imaging for interpretation.
Course Objectives
- Identify proper positioning and appearance of cardiac devices on CXR
- Recognize tracheal variants and review differential diagnosis of stridor/wheezing
- Learn the role of cardiac CT in the evaluation of chest pain
- Review imaging techniques and pitfalls with cardiac MRI in the evaluation of cardiomyopathy and other cardiac pathology
- Review imaging forms of Pulmonary Fungal Infections on CT and CXR
- Discuss overlapping imaging appearance of pulmonary fungal infections and other chest disease
- Discuss radiologists role in identification and management of pulmonary fungal infections
- Discuss viral related pulmonary aspergillosis infections
- Review classic imaging signs in pulmonary infections
- Discuss the identification of acute aortic syndrome and the role of imaging in management
- Discuss the mimics of acute aortic sydrome
- Review approach to cystic lung disease and formulating a differential diagnosis
